The most natural landscape of Sibiu County is poisoned, levelled and fenced. “Peisaj Deschis” is set up to save it.
A healthy way of life dictated by the natural rhythms of nature, unique in Europe, is fast disappearing. Intensive farming has come to destroy the picturesque Hârtibaciu Plateau, an area which – despite being declared a protected area – is threatened by sprawling monocultures, criss-crossed by streams from which life has vanished due to over-use of pesticides and with wild animals driven to extinction by thousands of kilometres of electric fences blocking their natural pathways. To save Europe’s “last medieval cultural landscape”, a federation has been set up under the name “Peisaj Deschis”.
