March was a very active month. We were very pleased that several of our forest complaints, carried out together with Agent Green, led to concrete results, including high fines in Nocrich and Rodbav, as well as a criminal investigation for wood theft. While still insufficient, these are exceptional high fines in Romania for such violations.

Another great success was the activists’ meeting we hosted in Hosman, where we collectively decided to launch a nationwide joint campaign to achieve at least 10% strict protection under the EU Biodiversity Strategy.
Together with Declic, Greenpeace and Agent Green, we are actively preparing this campaign.

Furthermore, Peisaj Deschis participated in the public consultation on the National Biodiversity Strategy and co-signed a joint NGO letter to the Prime Minister regarding proposed changes to strict protection rules.

Additionally, we were awarded a grant from Wildlife Acoustics, with invaluable support from Giorgiana Crețu, who will serve as our lead scientist for wildlife monitoring. The grant, valued at 4,000 USD, provides bioacoustic recorders to strengthen our field monitoring across the Hârtibaciu Highlands.
