In this next part of our series, we will focus on forest management plans and environmental assessments: how to read and understand them, check whether required studies are complete and accurate, and spot problems or inconsistencies.

Join us for a hands-on workshop on Sunday, 15 February, from 10:00 to 17:00, at the Old Mill in Hosman.

Morning session with Ion Holban and Dan Turiga will cover:

• the structure of forest management plans and key points to watch
• the role of environmental assessments and how to evaluate them
• how the public can make observations and participate in public debates on these documents

Afternoon session: We’ll go out into the forest to see how the plans compare with what’s happening on the ground.

Special focus: Since we are in the Natura 2000 protected area of Podisul Hârtibacului, we will also discuss the additional requirements that protected areas impose on such plans.
